First Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the charity – you're invited!
This meeting is booked for the evening of September 20th at Strumpshaw Community Hall – please put this date in your diaries! It will be an important opportunity for members to get involved in workshop discussions about the future plans for the woodland, and we will also have guest speakers.
Any member wishing to formally put a resolution forward for the AGM should contact the Charity Secretary through our email address info@buckenhamancientwoodland.org before August 23rd 2024.
If you’d like to come to the meeting but are not yet a member, please sign up here - it’s free!
Trustee vacancy – can you help?
We have a vacancy for a trustee on the Charity Board and would especially welcome someone with financial, fundraising or marketing experience to join us – if you can help, please contact the BAWT chairperson for an informal chat: governance@buckenham ancientwoodland.org
Land Purchase progress
The purchase of the middle section of the wood is progressing well, and we hope to be the owners by the autumn. We will start some woodland work in late autumn/early winter, click here to let us know if you could volunteer for practical working parties or could help support them.
Lingwood Village Hall Fete – 30th June
Despite the unseasonal weather the first Lingwood Village fete since 2017 was a resounding success! We were thrilled to attend the event and we had a fantastic time meeting people, sharing the latest news on the land purchase and encouraging visitors to have a go at our Buckenham Wood pairs card game.
A big thank-you to the children from Lingwood Primary School who let us use their pictures of things they might see in a woodland – they helped to make our stall really stand out!
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who stopped by our stall to chat, learn about our mission, and show their support. We were delighted that 16 people decided to sign up on the day to become trust members and 6 people signed up as volunteers. If you are interested in finding out how you can also join us for free, or become a volunteer click below.
The BAWT sign in Buckenham Wood
A new sign has been installed in Buckenham Wood where we will be able to keep visitors up to date on the latest news from the charity. It is located close to where the footpath from Lingwood enters the wood. As well as providing a noticeboard space, the sign includes a map of Buckenham Wood (boundaries marked on the map are indicative and not precisely positioned); useful links and a QR code which provides access to more information about the wood and our charity on the BAWT website.
Future waste works
Works took place in late July to make safe small pockets of historic waste. We will carry out further litter clearance work next winter.
Grants awards, partners and sponsors page
Our new grants awards, partners and sponsors website page highlights and celebrates the dedicated support of our members, donors, volunteers, supporters, partners and sponsors. You can also find information about the recent grant awarded to BAWT.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to all those individuals and groups who support us in a variety of ways. Everyone’s contribution means that we can secure Buckenham Wood for the future and provide access to the local community.
Gift Aid from all donations now available
BAWT is very grateful to everyone who has contributed to our fund for purchasing, conserving and managing the wood. If you wish for us to retrospectively claim Gift Aid on your donation (made before 15th January 2024) please contact us via BAWT's email and we will get right back to you.
