We invite you to lend a hand in Buckenham Wood as part of our ongoing woodland management plan. We have four work days scheduled, and we’d love for you to join us for one—or more (below). These work days are a great opportunity to connect with nature, meet like-minded people, and make a real difference to the health of Buckenham Wood.

Removing sycamore saplings
Moving brash
Edging paths with natural material
Each session will support different aspects of our woodland management plan. While the specific tasks are still being finalised, they may include some of the things listed above. We’ll share more details closer to each date, (including times) so you’ll know what to bring and how to prepare. Whether you're a seasoned BAWT volunteer or new to woodland work, everyone’s welcome. Your time and energy is very much appreciated and help keep Buckenham Wood thriving for wildlife and the community.
Be aware that contractors will be in the woods this month carrying out tree safety work. This important work was recommended in last tree assessment report. There will further work days, these dates will be shared once they have been finalised.
📅 Dates:
12th December: Completion of fencing works.
16-18th December: Installation of gate and 2 kissing gates.
TBC mid-January: Works to improve the path along the northern boundary is scheduled to start. Sections of the path maybe closed during the works.
15-16th January 2026: Two days of tree canopy works (one/two more dates TBC for February 2026).
Late January 2026: Installation of two benches.
⚠️What to Expect:
Main paths will remain open but may be temporarily closed for short periods for public safety.
All works will be overseen by our consultant arborist.

The northern boundary permissive footpath will be officially closed for 24 hours on 12 January 2026.
