Work continues steadily on our Buckenham Wood management plan.
Recent changes: We acknowledge that some areas of the woodland may appear a little untidy at the moment following recent management work.
Nature, however, thrives on a bit of mess. These changes help remove invasive species, create valuable new habitats, and let more light reach the woodland floor. This supports a richer range of wildlife, especially the ground flora. Although things can look a bit rough to begin with, the benefits are already showing — including a noticeably stronger bluebell display this year.
Catch up on the latest posts from Bob (Bob’s Blog), where he explains how woodland management supports the ecology of the wood.
Northern boundary path: Work to improve this permissive footpath was delayed due to the wet winter, however work will begin soon. Once the path is completed it will allow all weather access and help recover the bluebells along this section of the woodland.
Although the path may initially look new and out-of-keeping with the woodland landscape, it will soon blend in.
If you have a few mintues to spare we’d love to hear your thoughts on the recent woodland management work. Follow the link below to our feedback survey.
Your feedback will enable us to gather community opinion for our response to the organisations who provided us with recent grants. It will also help us to improve how we share information with you.
All responses are anonymous, there are 5 questions and it takes about 3 minutes to complete.

The BAWT voluteers have been busy in the woods over the last couple of months, with several work days taking place.
More path edging was added to protect the early bluebell shoots and the work continued to remove invasive species such as alexanders and sycamore saplings.

This year’s BAWT bluebell day will take place on Sunday 26th April, and we’d love to see you there. Our information point will be set up next to the BAWT noticeboard on the northern boundary path. We will be ready to answer questions, talk about woodland management, or simply share a moment among our amazing bluebells.

The hall was buzzing on Saturday 11th April as our third BAWT Barn Dance filled Lingwood Village Hall with music, dancing and plenty of laughter. It was a sellout success, with the raffle and “Spot the Butterfly” game helping raise over £1000.
Huge thanks to everyone who came, to our brilliant volunteers, to Lingwood Village Hall, and to the wonderful Yare Folk for getting us all up on our feet. Your support truly makes a difference.
We are also very grateful to the local companies that generously donated prizes for the raffle:
A luxury hamper from The Egg Shed (Instagram)
Several vouchers for The Shoulder of Mutton
A book from Mike Page Photography
Two brilliant hampers from Spar - Lingwood (Facebook)
For more details on the night catch up on our past events page.

BAWT purchased the woodland in October 2024, starting the hard work and financial commitment to maintain it. Let’s all get together to help ensure that the local community continues to benefit from our Ancient Woodland for generations to come.
1. Become a member – it’s free!
We need members so that funders can see we have community support, and to guide our decisions.
2. Volunteer
We need more volunteers to help join us run the Trust, and to help with practical tasks in the wood.
3. Donate
We’ve raised money to purchase the woodland, but there will now be more work to be done in the wood.
4. Follow us on Facebook
Please follow and share us on Facebook.
5. Spread the word
If you think you know someone who would enjoy getting involved with our work please tell them about our website, where they can find out more about us.
